Apollo Global Management has appointed Eiji Ueda, the former Chief Investment Officer of Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund, as its new head of the Asia-Pacific region. Ueda, who resigned from his position at the GPIF in March after five years, will take over from Matt Michelini, who has been in the role since 2022. The company's statement indicates that Michelini will transition into a broader leadership position within the firm next year.
Ueda's appointment comes as Apollo continues to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, which is a key growth area for the alternatives giant. With his extensive experience in pension investments, Ueda is expected to bring valuable expertise to the company's growing business in the region. The $840 billion alternatives giant has been actively seeking to strengthen its leadership in Asia, and Ueda's appointment is a significant step in that direction.
